How to make

  • Stove Top

    Prep Time:
    10 minutes
    Cooking Time:
    40 minutes
    1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in pan, brown beef, add onion and potato, cook 2 minutes.
    2. Add combined tomato paste, 1 ¼ cups (310mL) water, and MAGGI Recipe Base, bring to the boil, stirring.
    3. Cover and simmer 30 minutes or until beef is tender, stir occasionally.
  • Slow Cooker

    Prep Time:
    10 minutes
    Cooking Time:
    480 minutes
    1. Place blade steak, onion and potato in the slow cooker.
    2. Stir in combined tomato paste, 3/4 cup (190mL) water and MAGGI Recipe Base.
    3. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.
    4. (Cooking time may vary between slow cooker models)
  • Oven

    Prep Time:
    10 minutes
    Cooking Time:
    90 minutes
    1. Preheat oven to 200ºC.
    2. Place blade steak, onion and potatoes in ovenproof dish.
    3. Stir in tomato paste and combined 1 cup (250mL) water and MAGGI Beef Goulash Recipe Mix, cover.
    4. Bake 1½ hours or until steak is tender, stir twice during cooking.
  • Microwave

    20 minutes
    1. As there are many different makes, models and ages of microwaves, the MAGGI Team conducted testing of this preparation method, and have found that there can be high levels of inconsistency with the performance of different microwaves, where in some cases, it has resulted in the meat not being cooked through evenly.
    2. For health and safety reasons we will no longer recommend that you prepare this recipe in a microwave, and as a result have removed these preparation instructions from the website.
